Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, popularly known as Babasaheb, was an Indian jurist, social reformer, and politician. He was the architect of the Indian Constitution and is considered the father of the Indian Republic. He was born on April 14, 1891, in the town of Mhow in what is now the state of Madhya Pradesh.
Ambedkar was born into a Dalit family, the most oppressed and marginalized group in the Indian caste system. Despite this, he was determined to get an education and worked hard to overcome his lower-caste status. He attended the Elphinstone High School in Bombay, where he was the only Dalit student. He then went on to attend the University of Bombay before going to the United States to pursue a doctoral degree.
